Atiku insisted that Buhari remains a general even though he came to power as a democrat.

Atiku said Buhari just put on the garb of a democrat so he could return to power, but remains a general.

The former vice president insisted that military chiefs are not obliged to follow the president’s orders if they are unlawful.

He said: “I want to direct this message to our military commanders and officers. You know that the military commanders and officers are not bound to execute orders that are manifestly unlawful.”

“This is the law, this is the tradition in the military; so if you are a professional military officer and soldier and also a policeman, you are not bound to execute an order that is manifestly unlawful, no matter who issues that order.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari called on Nigerians not to lose faith in the country’s electoral system and urged the electorates to vote in the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a video address on Tuesday, February 19, the president commiserated with those who travelled hundreds of kilometres in order to vote before the election was postponed.

President Buhari applauded Nigerians for their patience and promised a free and credible election.
