[Men's Basketball] Haefeli Named to Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
WICHITA, Kan. –Friends University senior forward/center Vitor Haefeli (SR/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) has been voted as a first-team Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Basketball honoree, selected by CoSIDA, the organization announced today (Feb. 21).
As a first-team All-District selection, Haefeli will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, set to be revealed in mid-March.
"I can't think of anyone who deserves this recognition more than Vitor," Friends head coach Dale Faber said.
"It is remarkable what he has achieved. He never has an excuse for any slippage academically and that is because there has been no slippage in four years. He is a great teammate and will be a great hire by any business."
To qualify for this award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.30 grade-point-average and be at least a sophomore in athletic standing that participates in least 50 percent of their team's athletic contests.
A native of Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Haefeli has made 29 appearances for the No. 22-ranked Falcons this season, with eight starting assignments.
Next up for Haefeli and the Falcons is a KCAC semifinal showdown at No. 8-ranked and second-seeded Southwestern College Saturday afternoon (Feb. 23) at 2 pm in Winfield, Kan.
Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
