Strange 'leopard print' yellow bloom filmed in waters off Thailand

A tourist observed a bizarre golden yellow stream of water while travelling by boat to Racha Island, Phuket last month (January 14).

The footage shows the strange spotted pattern, almost a 'leopard print' colouring, covering the waters around the boat.

It is believed that this appearance was caused by a rare algal bloom and plankton.
