Bob Schmidt dies; Navy veteran served more than 30,000 hours as volunteer at wildlife refuge

Bob Schmidt, a retired steamfitter who gave more than 30,000 hours of volunteer service to the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, died Feb. 23 under hospice care in his Lockport, N.Y. home after a short battle with lung cancer. He was 88.
