Workday stock rises after earnings beat Street view
Workday Inc. shares rose in the extended session Thursday after the cloud-software company's quarterly results topped Wall Street estimates. Workday shares rose as much as 4% after hours, following a 0.2% rise to close the regular session at $197.93. The company reported a fourth-quarter loss of $104.4 million, or 47 cents a share, compared with a loss of $89.1 million, or 42 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings were 41 cents a share. Revenue rose to $788.6 million from $582.5 million in the year-ago quarter. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast earnings of 32 cents a share on revenue of $776.9 million. For the year, Workday expects subscription revenue of $3.03 billion to $3.05 billion, while analysts had forecast subscription revenue of $3.03 billion.
