Tesla halts orders ahead of 5 p.m. Eastern announcement
Tesla Inc. has halted its orders on its website and redirecting users to a teaser page for the announcement expected at 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday. Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted earlier this week there would be "some Tesla news," and both the executive and Tesla representatives are keeping mum about the substance of the announcement. Guesses have included a look at the Model Y, a future compact SUV, the start of $35,000 Model 3s in the U.S., and more on Autopilot, Tesla's suite of advanced driver-assistance systems. Tesla shares were approaching the close up 1.6% at $319.87. A Tesla spokesperson declined to comment.
