BU and BFC Director Changes
Dave Merritt and Donald Kerr are resigning from the BU board shortly having both reached 12 years service, the maximum permitted. They are both BU representatives on the BFC Board. Dave Merritt is also resigning from the BFC Board whilst Donald has been asked to stay on in a different capacity from his previous position as a BU representative.
Obviously I know both Dave and Donald well from my time on the BU board, before that and since. 12 years service to the club and its supporters is to be respected. Both have served BU well and they should both leave with our sincerest thanks. I suspect they are both well-known to many BFC supporters, at least by sight.
BU are actually entitled to only one BFC Board position by virtue of its loans to the club. Unfortunately Cliff Crown remembered this matter - or he looked it up :)
Stewart Purvis CBE becomes the new BU Chairman, succeeding Dave Merritt (no CBE!). Stewart also becomes BU's representative on the BFC Board.
I've met Stewart several times and he's a very nice and impressive fellow. For a start he's got his own wikipedia page!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_Purvis
He's also got a BAFTA, covered the 1978 World Cup and the Iranian Embassy Siege.
I know Stewart had to be persuaded to take this role rather than just enjoy his football, and he's got some good ideas to bring to BU and the club.
I'm sure we all wish him well.
