[Men's Lacrosse] Cavs defeat NCAA's Shorter on the road
ROME, Ga. – Men's lacrosse notched its first win of the season Thursday evening when they defeated the Shorter Hawks 19-10. The Hawks play in the NCAA's DII and were winless coming into the game.
The Cavs now are 1-5 on the season, and will look to take this momentum into another tough match-up on Saturday.
"The guys were hungry for a win, overcame adversity, and got the job done," said assistant coach Mike Simpson. "Our work is never done, but it was good to have the guys in high spirits."
Montreat's attack came alive with Cody Bischoff (2), Chris Jackson (4), and John Ferris (5) all scoring for the unit, while midfielder Joshua Brown buried five goals and dominated at the faceoff-X. The sophomore also picked up 18 ground balls. Other scorers included Kyndall Overton (2) and freshman Josten Ucros who scored the first goal of the game.
John Cox and Riki Rendon-Habana were solid defensively, while senior LSM Tracy Leonard had four groundballs to also help the Montreat effort.
