Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise are expected to return for a reported Edge of Tomorrow sequel
Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt look ready to finally relive Edge of Tomorrow.
Warner Bros. is working on a follow-up to the 2014 sci-fi action film and has hired a new writer, Matthew Robinson (Monster Trucks), according to The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline.
If news of an Edge of Tomorrow sequel makes you feel like you're repeating the same day over and over, that might be because Warner Bros. originally began developing one back in 2016, but that version of the project never went anywhere.
Now, three years later, production is back on. Director Doug Liman is expected to return, as are Cruise and Blunt, so long as the script is any good. Both headlined the original film, which revolved around an officer in a war against aliens who relives the same day every time he dies, Groundhog Day-style. It was somewhat successful, grossing $370 million worldwide.
Oddly, the movie's title was changed for the home video release from Edge of Tomorrow to Live Die Repeat, the latter originally being the tagline. Last we heard, the sequel's title will be Live Die Repeat and Repeat, surely leaving those who aren't even aware of the home video change and only know the movie
