Cash-free society risks leaving 8 million struggling to pay bills

Britain’s cash system is “on the verge of collapse” and must be protected if millions of people are not to be left struggling to cope, a review warns today. Government, regulators and banks must act to ensure the UK does not sleepwalk into a cashless society which would hit eight million consumers, many of them elderly.
