[Women's Tennis] Women's tennis opens spring season against Koalas and Bulldogs
MONTREAT, N.C. – The Montreat College women's tennis team opened its spring season on Saturday, Mar. 2 against Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Columbia College. Facing the Koalas on the road proved to be a challenging draw as the Cavaliers fell 9-0.
Montreat started the match down 3-0 by forfeiting line five and six singles and line three doubles.
In doubles play, the pair of Elizabeth Beary and Hayley Taylor would capitalize on the most games, losing 8-4.
In singles play, Katie Dillon at no. 3 would put up a fight but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-3.

On Monday, the Cavaliers fell 9-0 as the host to Tennessee Wesleyan at the Patricia Cornwell Tennis Center.

In doubles play, the Elizabeth Beary and Hayley Taylor duo fell 8-1 to the Bulldogs, while no. 2 doubles Katie Dillon and Emily Wells followed a similar suit, losing 8-0.
Matches were more competitive in singles, but the Cavaliers failed to have any matches go in their favor. Senior Hayley Taylor at no. 2 tested her opponent Helena Cabezas Marti, but ultimately dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision. Newcomer Kaylee French managed to push her opponent, eventually losing 6-1, 6-0. Junior Elizabeth Beary would also play competitively but came up short 6-1, 6-2.
