Real Jersey FC, Ukrainian Nationals win National League divisions, punch tickets to national championships
Real New Jersey and Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals joined Lehigh Valley United and Lower Merion SC as division winners in the U.S. Youth Soccer National League
Real Jersey FC and Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals were crowned division winners in the U.S. Youth Soccer National League over the weekend in Las Vegas, joining Lehigh Valley United and Lower Merion SC as division winners to book a spot in the national championships.
Angus Kenson’s goal for Real Jersey FC held up to beat Utah club Sparta Premier JK in the winner-take-all match in the U15 age division on Sunday afternoon in Vegas. Real finished 4-0-1 in league play with 13 points while outscoring opponents 15-2.
Lower Merion SC Invictus was also part of the U15 boys competition, but fell three points shy of first place Oklahoma Energy with a 2-2-1 record. PA Dominion came in second in the Black division with a 3-1-1 record. Division runner-ups book a spot in next year’s National League.
Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals had already finished their division play prior to last weekend, but benefited from a string of results in Vegas that ended up leading to their White division title in the U18 boys group. YMS Premier Celtic 01 fell short in the Black division with a 1-3-1 record.
Lehigh Valley United and Lower Merion finished their league play in December as the two division champs in the U19 boys category. Lehigh Valley United won the U19 Blue division with a 4-1-0 record while outscoring opponents 11-1 and LMSC Rats posted wins in all five of their games to claim supremacy with a 15-2 advantage on goals.
Real Jersey’s 2005 birth year team finished 4-2-1 but in third place, six points out from the Blue division winner, in their age division. The Ukies 2005 team finished 1-3-3 in the White division. Other boys teams from the area in the competition included HMMS Eagle FC (1-3-1 in U16 Black division), Lehigh Valley United 02 Black (3-2-0 in U17 Black division), Ukrainian Nationals (3-2-0 in U17 Blue division) and YMS United 02 (1-4-0 in U16 White division)
The national championships will be held in Overland Park, Kansas July 23-28.
