Michael Flynn asks judge to delay his sentencing

0

Attorneys for former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn asked Judge Emmet Sullivan on Tuesday to delay Flynn's sentencing because there "may be additional cooperation" he can offer.

In the court filing, attorneys requested a 90-day postponement. Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office did not take a position on the matter, but did say they view Flynn's assistance as being "otherwise complete," The Associated Press reports.

Flynn has been cooperating with Virginia prosecutors as part of a case against two ex-business associates accused of illegally lobbying for Turkey. They are expected to go on trial in July.

Flynn is waiting to be sentenced for lying to the FBI about his communications with former Russian ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak. He was set to be sentenced in December, but his attorneys asked for a delay so he could keep working with investigators in an attempt to get a lighter sentence.
