Students and teachers took to the streets of Algiers, Algeria, on March 12, in protest against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s decision to extend his fourth term in office and postpone presidential elections, according to local media. Bouteflika said in March that the elections, due to take place in April, would be postponed, reports said. Bouteflika has been in office since 1999 and recently turned 82.
