[Men's Golf] Grover Page Classic at Jackson CC hosted by UT Martin
The Brescia University Men's Golf Team opened their season at UT Martin where ten teams from NCAA Division and NAIA took place at the famous Jackson CC. Conditions were tough for the players as only one person was able to crack the code of Jackson CC to post a 3 round total of two under par (Bracton Womack from Tenn Tech). The Bearcats were lead by Trevor Brown with a T-18 finish at +12 for the tournament posting scores of (78-74-76). Steven Zehr was T-24 with rounds of (79-74-78). Despite a difficult start Chance England fought back very hard with rounds of (86-75-78) to finish T-39. Daniel Steele was next with scores of (81-82-87) to finish T-52. Parker Brown finished 58th overall with (83-89-85). Kolton Myatt played as an individual and posted scores of (84-84-88) edging out Parker Brown at 57th overall.
"Despite the weather conditions and the players adapting to tighter fairway and chipping areas, they hit the ball well overall," says Coach Jason Cox. "With champion Bermuda at the Jackson CC layout putting on the greens were tricky to say the least for the team. At first look the scores are a little high for us, but with little practice time and playing D-I competition the Bearcats can take a lot of positive things away from this week. We hit the ball really solid in the rain and cold which is a good sign for us moving forward into the semester. As we move into the semester things are starting to take shape."
The Bearcats are looking forward to the next event in two weeks at Asbury University.
