Book club: The Sound and the Glory
I'm nearly through Matt Pentz's book and I'm really enjoying it. It's shedding a ton of light on members of the FO, has some excellent backstory on players and, overall, is just well done.
Thought I'd start a thread for folks to talk about it and any specific parts they enjoyed (or not) and thoughts they have on some of the behind-the-scenes stuff.
One thing I'm finding interesting is that it's definitely giving me a different context to think about Garth. I've always been pro-Garth, but several passages of the book put his work in a context I don't think we really get just as fans. The man definitely has a plan and a lot of self-consciousness about how he comes off. It sets up what I'd call a healthy tension in team leadership that, at least on paper, seems to be a way to avoid complacency.
Anyway, if you're reading, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
