Woman to avoid prison time for Social Security theft

BOSTON (AP) - A Massachusetts woman who pleaded guilty to stealing her dead mother's Social Security benefits has avoided prison.

The Patriot Ledger reports 55-year-old Catherine Anzalone, of Rockland, was sentenced Wednesday to a year of home confinement and ordered to repay more than $155,000 to the Social Security Administration.
