Leeds defender Jansson ends up in goal after Casilla red in top-of-table clash with Sheffield United
LEEDS were sensationally forced to throw defender Pontus Jansson in goal after keeper Kiko Casilla was sent off.
Marcelo Bielsa had used all three substitutes in the home defeat to promotion rivals Sheffield United when Casilla hauled down Blades striker Billy Sharp.
And centre-back Jansson volunteered to go between the sticks for the final few minutes of the top-of-the-table clash.
Swedish defender Jansson ended up being untroubled in the final few seconds but decided not to use Casilla’s gloves.
Jansson’s only involvement was going up for a late corner kick that was over-hit.
The late dismissal will have made defeat even more bitter for Bielsa.
Chris Basham had scored the only goal of the game which saw Leeds drop out of the top-two and replaced by Sheffield United.
The hosts had their chances with Tyler Roberts hitting the post from 15 yards.
Leeds’ loss also means leaders Norwich are able to open up a four-point advantage at the top of the table when they face Rotherham.
