86-year-old Peninsula woman killed in traffic collision identified
HILLSBOROUGH — An 86-year-old Millbrae woman who was killed in a collision Wednesday has been identified as Inez Barranti, according to the coroner’s office.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the two-vehicle collision at about 3:40 p.m. near the Crystal Springs Golf Course, according to CHP officers.
A 16-year-old girl was driving a 2016 Volkswagen Golf when she turned left onto Golf Course Drive from the ramp onto northbound Interstate 280, hitting the right door of a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe that was driving east, the officers said. The Hyundai rolled over and came to a rest on the left side.
The CHP and the 63-year-old Millbrae man driving the Hyundai, along with Barranti and an 89-year-old man, were injured and taken to Stanford Health Care. Barranti was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Redwood City girl driving the Volkswagen and her passenger, a 15-year-old Belmont girl, were not injured, the officers said. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to play a role in the collision.
