Tory civil war spills over into furious WhatsApp row after Remainer MP was accused of drunk texting
THE TORY civil war spilled over into a furious WhatsApp row as a Remainer MP was accused of drinking before she launched a late night attack on Brexiteers.
Pro EU MP Antoinette Sandbach stormed out of the Conservative MPs’ group chat after Brexiteer Michael Fabricant made the drink slur.
In a fiery exchange, Ms Sandbach sent a message shortly after 11pm on Saturday night criticising members of the Brexit backing ERG group for attacking other Tory MPs.
But Tory Brexiteer Mr Fabricant fired back: “If you’ve been drinking again, best not to be on social media – even this one. OK?”
His cutting rebuke sparked fury from Ms Sandbach who tore into her colleague for not coming to her aid.
She said: “Extraordinary not a single MP has condemned Michael’s comment. This is the party we have become.”
She then quit the group.
