Netherlands Shooting: One Dead in Apparent Terror Attack as Police Launch Manhunt
Dutch police are looking for Gökman Tanis, a Turkish-born 37-year old in connection with an apparent attack on a Netherlands tram in the Dutch city of Ultrecht on Monday morning, killing one person, authorities said. The gunman is still at large, according to officials, who said shootings occurred “in multiple locations.” The death toll may rise.
Heavily armed counter-terrorism units were moving building-to-building in search of one or more gunmen several hours after the incident.
Witnesses tweeted accounts of the shooting, including seeing a badly injured woman staggering from the tram while gunshots popped inside the carriage. Local television also showed a white tarpaulin over at least one body near the tram line.
