Five restaurateurs, two Sushi Palace outlets fined $315K by Revenue Quebec

0

Five restaurateurs and two outlets of the Sushi Palace have been sentenced to pay $315,000 in fines after a two-year investigation determined they had withheld sales taxes from the provincial government, Revenue Quebec announced on Monday.

Kam Sing Chung, Yee Hon Au, Da Xia Tan, Le Ha Ly and Peggy Lee as well as Sushi Palace outlets in Boucherville and St-Laurent were ordered to pay the fines after the investigation found that restaurant cash registers had been manipulated and government sanctioned receipts not handed out in an effort to avoid paying sales tax collected on transactions.

Monday’s announcement notes that the fines follow an investigation that began in 2016.

Revenue Quebec announced as well that Kam Sing Chung and the Sushi Palace outlet in Laval had been convicted of the same offences several weeks ago.
