Lambert of England 55.5 cm frame & fork
Seat tube 55.5 cm c-t-c
Top tube 57 cm c-t-c
Drop out spacing 124 mm
I believe this is a Super Sport. If anyone can either confirm or deny that, please do!
Ok, ready? Here goes...
Firstly, a small dent about 3/8 diameter or so, and a mil or two deep. Its approximately midway along the top tube and shows up as a dark spot in a close up photo. Just a smooth shallow divot thats easy to miss.
Nextly, youll notice some ugly chainring scars on the drive side stay. Some one sure had a hard time setting this bike up successfully. Sand paper and primer filler should do the trick.
And the rear derailleur bottom bracket cable guide looks like it got slightly mangled at some point. It had a sharp snag of metal pointing upwards which cut my finger when cleaning the frame. Ive since filed it smooth. However, a small tear remains (shown in a close up photo) which could be a concern regarding smooth cable movement and/or early cable wear. Something I think youd want to address. Id probably just file the lip of the guide back a bit myself. And Im happy to do that for you if youd like. Ill leave it for you to decide what to do.
What else? Aside from nicks, scratches, and some staining in the paint here and there, there is also the obvious lack of decals. Well, there is a Colorado bike registration sticker below the downtube, does that count? But thats about it. The frame is a little beat up, but theres no concerning rust, and no structural damage that I can detect.
The front brake hanger was missing when I acquired the frame. I can supply a spacer if needed. Though, honestly the headset while definitely serviceable, is a bit worn looking so you might just look for a replacement. On that note Ive tossed all the caged bearings for the HS and BB since they looked toasted. The rear hanger is gone. I used it as trade material for some much needed derailleurs towards another frame Im building. Luckily the Lambert seat post binder, crank bolts, and downtube levers are still survived. Thatd be all of the original components that the bike came to me with.
I purchased this frame solely to use its crankset on another bike. It wore a genuine TA Pro-5 Vis set up with triple chainrings. While Im keeping the crankset, I am included with the bottom bracket which came with it, though its not likely original. As far as I can tell its Italian threaded, perhaps an aftermarket conversion. Im told that was common practice when the press fit units failed. The cups are pretty worn with some pitting. Italian length 70 mm spindle is good shape. Theres a bizarre rubber sleeve of some kind inside the shell. Maybe something to do with the original OEM press fit bottom bracket? Ive left it in, as there seemed no reason not to.
Wow! Thats a lot of information. More than you cared for. But this bike is odd, its strange, and its a hot mess. Its interesting. And I couldnt honestly describe it any other way than thoroughly. But there is one more important point to make, and that is that this frame has the...

And a cool ride itd make. Dont ya think?
Hard to put a price on this one as there isnt much to reference to accordingly. Im open to offers, but in the mean time Ill set an asking price of...
