Why Stephen Curry will sit out Warriors’ game vs. Dallas Mavericks

0

Stephen Curry will miss his first game since late November on Saturday when the Warriors host the Dallas Mavericks at Oracle Arena.

Per the NBA’s injury report that was posted Friday afternoon, Curry will be out for ‘rest’ reasons. Also sitting Saturday’s game for rest will be center Andrew Bogut and guard Shaun Livingston.

The Warriors host the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. After this weekend, the Warriors have back-to-back games on two more occasions, starting April 4 and 5 when they play at Staples Center against the Los Angeles Lakers followed by a game at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They close the regular season April 9 at New Orleans and April 10 at Memphis.

Curry is averaging 27.8 points per game and has dressed for every game since Dec. 1 when he returned from a groin injury that sidelined him for 11 games from Nov. 10-29.

The Warriors entered Friday tied with the Denver Nuggets atop the Western Conference standings with 49-22 records.

Golden State has won four of its last five games since a 115-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns at Oracle Arena on March 10. Curry has been the leading scorer in three of those games, including a 36-point performance in Minnesota against the Timberwolves on March 19.

The Warriors were 5-6 in the games Curry missed in November. Kevin Durant was the leading scorer in all of those games.

Livingston was inactive for the Warriors’ game against Minnesota. Bogut has played in three straight games, including Thursday night when he had four points and seven rebounds in Golden State’s 112-89 win over Indiana. It was Bogut’s first game at Oracle Arena since June 13, 2016 — Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Cavaliers.
