San Jose: Naked man hit, killed while running across Interstate 280
SAN JOSE — A naked man who was reportedly running across southbound Interstate 280 near McLaughlin Avenue was hit and killed during the Thursday morning commute, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident was first reported to the CHP at about 8:38 a.m.
The man, who is estimated to be in his 40s, was reportedly running across the southbound lanes of 280, just north of McLaughlin Avenue, according to the CHP Officer Ross Lee. The man was spotted on the right shoulder and ran toward the center divide, Lee said. He ran into the path of a city of San Jose box truck, was hit by the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries, Lee said.
The box truck swerved into an adjacent lane and crashed into two other vehicles. None of the motorists were injured in the secondary crash.
As of 10:30 a.m., the three left lanes were closed to traffic, and the CHP warned motorists of delays.
