Small earthquake hits near Gilroy

GILROY — The earth rattled Thursday afternoon as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake shook up the South Bay.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was centered near San Martin and struck around 1:20 p.m.

No other information was available immediately.
