A BOOZY passenger has avoided jail for tripping up cabin crew on a flight after claiming she was practising judo sweeps.
Economist Hilary Mackay, who attacked three staff, was given a suspended jail term.
Representing herself in court, she questioned her punishment as she was told to pay £1,140 in costs and compensation.
Mackay, 54, told magistrates: “No harm was done.
“I had taken my shoes off and was in stockings.”
Mackay, who lives in a £1.5million home in Kensington, West London, was previously found guilty of assault.
She rowed with crew after being told to move from an extra leg room seat on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow, Uxbridge JPs heard.
Mackay, who had drunk rum and wine, said she was practising judo when she tripped two crew in the aisle.
Prosecution told she put the safety of her fellow passengers at risk with her actions.

The court heard she was also verbally abusive to the cabin crew members prior to the incidents.
She got four months in jail, suspended for 12 months.
