Tiger Woods Masters 2019 victory wins lucky punter £1MILLION after brave £65,000 bet
TIGER WOODS was not the only one celebrating his memorable Masters 2019 win in Augusta – as one lucky punter bagged £1MILLION.
Woods secured his first major in 11-years on the way to picking up his fifth green jacket at Augusta today.
After the win the 43-year-old was congratulated by Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Ian Poulter, Bernhard Langer – while celebrating with his daughter Sam, and son Charlie as well as mother Kultida and partner Erica Herman.
One brave gambler would also be relishing the victory as they slapped on £65,000 for Woods to win The Masters at the price of 14/1 with William Hill two days before the tournament at Augusta began.
Nick Bogdanovich, the company’s US director of trading, said: “It’s great to see Tiger back. It’s a painful day for William Hill – our biggest golf loss ever – but a great day for golf.”
Woods himself will bag up to £8.8m for his success at Augusta – though after the win he was just happy to celebrate the win 22 years after his father watched him clinch a first Masters.
He said: “It’s come full circle – my dad was here in ’97 when I won for the first time and now I’m here with my kids.“I couldn’t be happier. I’m kinda at a loss for words.
“It’s overwhelming, I think because of what has transpired.
“Last year I was just very lucky to be playing again.
“The previous champions’ dinner I was really struggling. I missed a couple of years of playing this great tournament, now to be winning it.
The Masters 2019
“It’s unreal to experience this. My mum was here, she was here in 1997 as well, and she couldn’t be more excited.
“I’m kind of lost for words to be honest with you. This is one of the hardest I’ve ever had to win, I think just because of what has transpired.
“I’ve had a chance the last two major championships, I applied what I learnt and managed to get there today.”
