Climate change protesters to disrupt the London Underground tomorrow
Environmental protesters have warned commuters over plans to disrupt the London underground tomorrow.
The Extinction Rebellion is in the midst of a week of action across the world, blocking major roads and bridges in protest against climate change.
Now the campaign group now plans to ‘disrupt their daily lives’ of Tube passengers in a bid to grab people’s attention.
Their plan is to ‘peacefully break the law in order to stop the tube’ and then to ‘wait to be arrested,’ but they haven’t said exactly how they plan on bringing the network to a halt.
They apologised to commuters in advance but said ‘disrupting their daily lives’ was needed to highlight the world’s ecological crisis.
The group said: ‘The logic here is the same as with shouting “There’s a fire in the house!” – the disruption is necessary to protect lives in the long term. Not just ours, but our children’s and grandchildren’s.
Some people have been quick to point out that the group stopping people using environmentally friendly forms of public transport might be shooting themselves in the foot.
Lads, I'm not entirely sure that disrupting public transport is a brilliant tactic when it comes to climate change activism.https://t.co/FrKDkQMmt8

Getting the tube for the extinction rebellion is a bit ironic no? I understand why they're protesting but that makes no sense.

But the Extinction Rebellion says ‘economic disruption’ is needed to force the Government to negotiate with them.
Addressing passengers, the campaigners said: ‘You and your work are not the target of this action – addressing the climate crisis will need a massive expansion of our public transport infrastructure.’
The Mister by E L James' is out and the reviews are not goodThey also said sorry to union workers and called them ‘important stakeholders’ in the fight against climate change.
They added that their sabotage will ‘rapidly increase the longer it continues’ and say police and the RMT transport union have been told about their plans for the tube.
They asked transport workers not to intervene with the protests to make sure everything goes ‘as smoothly and safely as possible.’
The movement has attracted an array of celebrity endorsements including former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, actress Emma Thompson and, unexpectedly, former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson.
