Some 12,000 free seats booked for election debate at Olimpiysky Stadium

Some 12,000 seats have been booked for the election debate with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko due at the Olimpiysky Stadium on April 19, the campaign for Ukrainian presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.

“People booked 12,000 seats within less than 12 hours since free tickets to the debate between Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Petro Poroshenko became available. This is a record number for the booking service. Disruptions are possible, so we ask you to be patient. Together till the end!” the Zelenskiy campaign said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Zelenskiy gave a video address from the Olimpiysky Stadium on April 16 night to announce the possibility of booking tickets for his debate with Poroshenko via the website debaty2019.org.ua.

Free tickets can be booked to the fan zone, which will be organized in the stadium’s center. The tickets will be sent via email. Only two free tickets are available per person.

Zelenskiy said that the Poroshenko campaign was objecting to free access to the fan zone. “Once again, they want to divide supporters between theirs and ours. We view all citizens of Ukraine as our supporters, but they are being divided again. We will not change our terms. They are against free access, but it’s our main condition,” he said.
