Prince Charles’ letter prompts fan speculation it was by Meghan Markle — because of the spelling
A LETTER from Prince Charles using American spellings prompted speculation by fans that it was written by Meghan.
The official letter to French President Emmanuel Macron used the words “agonizing” and “realise” — with a Z instead of an S.
It prompted many of his 714,000 Instagram followers to speculate Meghan had penned the touching message of sympathy about the Notre Dame fire.
It came just a day after fans claimed Meghan runs the SussexRoyal Instagram account, due to US words and phrases.
But Charles’s aides were quick to point out he uses the “correct” 15th century versions of English, when words were spelled with an “-ize” not “-ise”.
They said Meghan has nothing to do with his letters, which are written by Charles and his staff.

A quick check of previous letters proved Charles has always used this old English, including words such as “recognize” and “realize”.
David Adger, Professor of Linguistics at Queen Mary University of London, confirmed Prince Charles’s spelling is technically correct, if unusual in Britain in 2019.
He said: “The -ize spelling is a pretty accurate representation of the Ancient Greek suffix.”
