MicroSHIFT, Micro Shift.....thumb & bar end shifters

I am looking for some sort of review of this shifter. I have a GX Eagle group set on my Focus bike, which came with a grip shifter. The grip shifter requires a maximum amount of real estate which is causing issues.

I am trying to figure out if a Micro Shift Thumb Shifter could be used on drop bars? I am aware that the bar end shifters will work. The Thumb Shifter seems like it would work on a greater variety of handlebars, allowing better access from more hand positions.
