Penn Badgley's Dan Humphrey on 'Gossip Girl' Was Almost Played by Another Actor!

Gossip Girl could have been totally different if this actor was cast as Dan Humphrey instead of Penn Badgley!

The 32-year-old You star’s role was almost nabbed by 29-year-old Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Alden Ehrenreich.

“Before Penn was involved, I desperately wanted Alden Ehrenreich to play Dan,” casting director David Rapaport revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

It came down to height – Alden was apparently too short to star alongside Blake Lively‘s Serena van der Woodsen.

David was sure about Blake playing Serena, though: “They were looking for someone who was casually cool, effortlessly chic, and—as a performer—was able to access their feelings. I was looking for this perfect person that would deliver on every level. I did not have another choice. I knew in my heart there was no one else.”
