Amiri: "We're on a run at the moment"
Andrej Kramaric: "All in all, it was a great game. After Schalke scored the penalty to make it 2-1, I thought that we might perhaps have a few problems, but our third goal dealt a blow to the opposition. I said a few weeks ago that we can play very good football and we're managing that now. I'm obviously hoping that we can still reach the Champions League. The other teams are having a few problems at the minute. If we continue to play as we have been and have more luck on the pitch than we did at the start of the season, then much is still possible this season."
Nadiem Amiri: "We were very effective but in terms of our performance, it wasn't the best. Nonetheless, beating Schalke 5-2 takes some doing. We're on a run at the moment, we're on very good form just as we were towards the end of the last two seasons. For each goal, we lured the opposition very well and then struck at the right moment. We're very happy today and we'll have a bit of a celebration tonight. But starting from tomorrow, our focus will be completely on next Sunday. Because in VfL Wolfsburg, we'll be facing another tough match against one of our direct rivals."
Oliver Baumann: "We were defensive and hit them on the counter. We didn't always have complete control over the opponent. Then we defended very well and caught them by surprise on the counter. We had some good strikers up top who are on good form at the moment. But the second goal was a team goal, I think they're the best kind. We've rediscovered the ease with which we want to play football. I wouldn't like to speak about the Champions League at this stage."
Julian Nagelsmann: "From a coaching point of view, I'm not happy with the flow of the game but I am with the result. We didn't start well and scored the opening goal out of nothing. Thereafter, we adapted our formation. When Schalke switched to a midfield diamond in the second half, we tried to do so too but then things got a bit wild. We were then slightly fortunate that this spell did not lead to anything. Only in the final quarter of an hour did things go well. But we did manage to score five goals against Schalke. The win is not undeserved but I think the margin of victory is far too high."
Huub Stevens (FC Schalke 04 coach): "We made a decent start to the game but we conceded a goal from the first shot. It was difficult to face an opponent on such a good run. When you then fall behind, your heads drop. But that cannot be allowed to happen, you need to continue to believe in yourself. In the second period, we made a slight change and reduced the deficit to 2-1. But thereafter we made mistakes that shouldn't be allowed. Hoffenheim is a team that takes full advantage of that."
