It’s unclear who the man is and authorities will not publicly identify the body until after the San Mateo County Coroner has notified the family. Naphtali Moimoi, a popular Hayward High School senior, drowned while boogie boarding at Poplar State Beach on April 18. His body has not been found.
San Mateo County Sheriff’s Detective Rosemerry Blankswade said the body recovered Sunday was not readily identifiable. In addition to Moimoi, there have been one or two other incidents recently that may be related to the body found Sunday, Blankswade said.
A car was seen driving off a cliff along Highway 1 late Thursday night, near the La Costanera restaurant, 11 miles up the coast from the Ritz Carlton. The car may belong to 52-year-old Michael Konevecki, who has been missing since Thursday.
“It could be one of two, or three, people,” said Blankswade.
