Motorcyclist dies after falling off Highway 84 in San Mateo County
WOODSIDE — A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Campbell has died after losing control of his bike on Highway 84, skidding off the road and falling 40 feet down an embankment, according to authorities.
The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Highway 84 about one mile west of Highway 35, at an unknown speed when he lost control while trying to negotiate a left turn on the road, said Art Montiel, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol in Redwood City. When fire personnel arrived, they tried to treat the man but he died before he could be transported to a hospital, Montiel said.
The man’s identity will be released after family is notified.
All lanes of Highway 84 were reopened late Sunday afternoon.
