57 pc voting in Maharashtra in 4th phase; total 60.68 pc

The final voting percentage in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra could reach 57 per cent, the Election Commission said Monday.

The final figures would be announced Tuesday, said Ashwani Kumar, chief electoral officer of the state.

"The estimated voting for 17 Lok Sabha seats (that went to polls in 4th phase) is 57 per cent. These figures are based at estimated voting till 6 pm. The final figure will be announced tomorrow," he said.

With this, the polling is over in Maharashtra, which sends 48 MPs, second highest after Uttar Pradesh which sends 80.

"The cumulative figure of Maharashtra voting in all four phases would be 60.68 per cent. The estimation includes final voting figures of first three phases and tentative figures of the fourth phase," Kumar said.

The average polling in the 17 constituencies that went to polls Monday was 55.59 per cent in 2014, Kumar said.

The average polling in 48 seats last time was 60.32 per cent.
