SIPRI report reveals 33% increase in Armenia's military expenditure

Armenia's military spending increased by 33% to an estimated $609 million in 2018, according to the recent findings by the Stockholm International Peace and Research Institute (SIPRI).

The report, entitled Trends in World Military Expenditure, 2018, highlights a gradual increase in the global trends, with the estimated military expenditure being $1822 billion as of 2018.

Iran was found to have reduced its costs for military supplies by 10% to $13.2 billion. Instead, Turkey increased its expenditure to as much as $19 billion (24%). The country was listed among the world’s top-ranking 15 leaders.

According to the organization’s experts, the 2018 global military expenditures were the highest since 1988.
