One of the hardest working bands in the business is back on tour

0

You can’t knock the work ethic of the Cowboy Junkies.

These four great Canadian musicians  – vocalist Margo Timmins, bassist Alan Anton, guitarist-songwriter Michael Timmins and drummer Peter Timmins – remain regular road warriors even after 30-plus years in the business.

The Junkies are out on tour once again, this time in support of the amazing new album “All That Reckoning,” and are performing several shows in our area.

That’s great news for local fans, who just can’t get enough of the Junkies’ patented and heavily mesmerizing musical mix of rock, folk, blues and other styles.

The quartet performs May 8 at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento (7:30 p.m.; $45-$65, www.ticketfly.com), May 9 at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley (8 p.m.; $51-$57, www.ticketfly.com), May 10 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco (8 p.m.; $50-$55, www.slimspresents.com), May 11-12 at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley (8 p.m. May 11, 7 p.m. May 12; $42-$48, www.thefreight.org), and May 14 at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz (8 p.m.; $35-$50, www.riotheatre.com).

The band will likely showcase “All That Reckoning” at each of those shows. Otherwise, you just never know what you’re going to hear at a Cowboy Junkies performance, given that they change up the set list from night to night. So, we’ve always believed the best course of action was to catch as many Cowboy Junkies shows as possible. See you there.
