Larry King reportedly recovering from another heart attack
Larry King went into cardiac arrest and suffered a heart attack last week, according to reports from multiple outlets. The longtime talk show host has been recovering at a cardiac intensive care unit, but could be released as early as Monday, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported that King had been struggling with his breathing for months. He was scheduled for an angiogram on Thursday, but went into cardiac arrest as he was preparing to leave for the hospital.
An ambulance rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent a procedure, according to USA Today, which cited a report by Ora TV, the network responsible for “Larry King Now.”
King had had two previous heart attacks, including one in 1987 that led to a quintuple bypass surgery.
“His doctor successfully performed the angioplasty and inserted stents to reopen the previous bypass from 1987,” according to an Ora TV statement.
“He has been recuperating in the hospital and is scheduled to be released soon. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery,” the statement continued.
King, 85, has endured a number of health scares over the years. He was diagnosed and was successfully treated for prostate cancer in 1999, and lives with Type 2 diabetes, according to USA Today.
In 2017, a cancerous tumor was removed from his lung.
Doctors have been treating King’s breathing issues for the past six months, according to TMZ.
