Andy Ruiz ‘agrees deal’ to fight Anthony Joshua as Brit champ makes US debut in New York
ANTHONY JOSHUA has reportedly agreed terms to fight Andy Ruiz in New York.
AJ’s US debut hit a speed bump when Jarrell Miller lost his licence after testing positive for banned drugs.
But 29-year-old Ruiz looks set to step in, with Fox Sports’ Mike Coppinger claiming the showdown is a done deal.
In the wake of Miller’s positive test, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn spoke highly of Ruiz, who boasts 32 wins from 33 fights.
He admitted The Destroyer did not look a physical specimen but insisted he would be able to put on a show.
Ruiz’s only defeat came as he challenged Joseph Parker for the WBO title Joshua currently holds.
Fellow American Michael Hunter was also mentioned but appears to have lost out.
The 30-year-old has one loss in 17 bouts – as he was beaten on the scorecards by cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk in the lighter division.
