Raleigh Gran Prix 72 Rear Wheel spec
Folks,
I had a 72 Gran Prix drop into my lap a spot back that I'm going to restore and donate to a charity auction. As a side note, a Raleigh MK1 Chopper also came with it in a "please take these out of my garage" moments, but more on that later. I know the Gran Prix it's not the most spectacular bike in the world but iconic being in that hand full of bikes that introduced America to 10 speeds....and I would have done something seriously illegal to get one when I was 12 as one sat on the floor of my LBS. Plus you just have to love the Derlin Simplex Prestige FD/RD. It's pretty intact except for the rear wheel. Hundreds of these must have passed through the members of this forum. Does anyone know the spec of the rear wheel and freewheel. The front is a Sturmey-Archer rim and Normandy large flange hub.
As for the Chopper. I really would have done something seriously illegal to lay my hands on one of those in my wee youth.
