Nance Jr. shoots down report about Rob Pelinka telling him to buy a house before trading him
Apparently a crazy report isn’t true.
A few weeks back, a report surfaced that Lakers GM Rob Pelinka told Larry Nance Jr. that he was safe to buy a house in Los Angeles before trading him to the Cavs in 2018. The anecdote is part of a larger narrative about how dysfunctional the Lakers are.
But, according to Nance Jr. himself. that story isn’t true. Nance took to Twitter on Tuesday to shoot down the story:
Just got a chance to read some of these articles about Rob Pelinka supposedly promising me I’d stay in LA.. Wanted to clear the air and say that is not the case. This league is a business and we all know it. Rob and I had and still have a great relationship.

For Nance, this all worked out for him. He’s back playing for the franchise his dad played for and is living back closer to him. He also signed an extension with the Cavs and genuinely seems happy to be in Cleveland as the franchise rebuilds.
What’s interesting is that Nance went out of his way to shoot down the story about Pelinka. This is not something that he ever had to do, really. But clearly he felt as if he had to do.
