Luton win back-to-back promotions and Barnsley secure Championship return year after relegation
LUTON TOWN and Barnsley have secured their Championship promotions.
The two sides will battle it out for the League One trophy in the last matchweek of the season.
Both sides can already pop the champagne bottle as both Portsmouth and Sunderland lost their games on Tuesday – to Peterborough and Fleetwood accordingly.
Barnsley are heading back to the Championship just after a one-year absence.
The Tykes are ending the season on a hot run, losing just one out of their last 25 league games.
Daniel Stendel’s men have also been beaten just once at Oakwell, seeing their home streak prolonged with a 2-1 victory over Blackpool on Saturday.
Meanwhile – Luton have now secured back-to-back promotions, finishing second in League Two last season – despite losing 2-1 to Burton last week.
The Hatters have effectively brushed off the loss of head coach Nathan Jones, who left to join stoke in January.
And they still have a chance to claim the League One trophy.

Both Luton and Barnsley enter the final week of the season with 91 points under their belts – with the Hatters ahead on goal advantage.
