Game #32: Athletics at Red Sox
Aaron Brooks leads the A’s today as they look to even out this road series against the Boston Red Sox. Yesterday the green and gold started off strong with a 4 run second inning, but the BoSox prevailed as the A’s were unable to answer to the 9 runs scored by the home team.
The Athletics face off against Rick Porcello, who hasn’t been off to the greatest start to the season so far. In 5 starts, Porcello has a 7.43 ERA, and a WHIP over 2. If the A’s can get the bats working early against the former Cy Young winner, look to see the Sox trot out a bullpen that had 6 pitchers come out from yesterday, 4 of which pitched less than an inning’s worth of work.
The Athletics look to Aaron Brooks to sit down the Red Sox batters after their offensive resurgence yesterday. Brooks pitched well in his last start, throwing for 5 innings and getting 7 strikeouts, but also giving up 2 home runs. Brooks was able to hold Boston to 6 scoreless innings in his first start of the season, hopefully his mix of Fastballs, Sliders, and will be as potent as it was at the start of the month.

Notes on the lineups: Pinder is in to cover 2B duties again, leaving Profar to be the A’s sole non-catcher on the bench. Speaking of catchers, Nick Hundley starts the game behind the plate for the A’s after Josh Phegley has started the last 2 games.
In other news Susan Slusser reports that Matt Olson is off to rehab games, and that Lou Trivino should be available out of the pen tomorrow after throwing BP today.
Lets go A’s!
