Mueller complained to Barr that summary report mischaracterized his findings: report
Special counsel Robert Mueller complained to Attorney General William Barr in March that Barr's four-page summary misconstrued the findings of his investigation, the Washington Post reported late Tuesday. Mueller's letter said Barr's summary "did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance" of his findings, according to the Post, which reviewed a copy of the letter, dated March 27. "There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation," the letter said, according to the Post. "This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations." Mueller asked for Barr to release some of the report's executive summaries in order to paint a clearer picture of his conclusions, the Post said. Mueller reportedly followed up on the letter during a phone call with Barr the next day. Barr eventually released a redacted version of Mueller's report to the public on April 18.
