Later this year, the Louvre will host an exhibition of masterpieces by Italian master Leonardo da Vinci to mark his death 500 years ago in France, but the work that has recently been the focus of intense scrutiny by the media and Leonardo specialists may not be on show. The work hasn’t been displayed in public since, triggering doubts about its ownership, its whereabouts and its authenticity.
