Several bouts official for UFC Minneapolis, including Maurice Greene vs. Junior Albini
The UFC’s return to Minneapolis is starting to fill up.
Two new bouts were announced by the promotion on Tuesday for the upcoming UFC Minneapolis card scheduled for June 29 at Target Center. Maurice Greene (7-2) will fight Junior Albini (14-5) in a heavyweight bout and Justin Ledet (9-2, 1 NC) will welcome light heavyweight newcomer Dalcha Lungiambula (9-1) to the Octagon.
A previously reported welterweight bout between Demian Maia (26-9) and Anthony Rocco Martin (16-4) was also made official.
Greene and Albini are heading in opposite directions, with “The Crochet Boss” having gone 2-0 in the UFC since emerging as one of the standout personalities on The Ultimate Fighter 28 and Albini having lost three straight since a promising first-round knockout of Timothy Johnson in his UFC debut back in July 2017. This will be a home date for Greene, who has roots in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Ledet has lost two straight, most recently being knocked out in 15 seconds by Johnny Walker at UFC Fortaleza in February. He faces Lungiambula, 33, a native of Congo currently fighting out of South Africa who has won his last five fights in the Extreme Fighting Championship promotion, three by way of knockout.
UFC Minneapolis will be headlined by a welterweight rematch between former champions Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler, with the main card airing live on ESPN.
