Tour de Romandie 2019: Cycling Race Schedule, How to Watch Every Stage Online, Live Stream, TV Channel, Dates
The 73rd edition of the Tour de Romandie begins today in Switzerland. The six-stage event has been a staple of the UCI World Tour and a great chance for the world’s best to prepare for this summer’s Tour de France. Last year’s winner Primož Roglič used this stage to propel himself into the spotlight as a contender in the biggest races. He followed up his triumph with an impressive fourth-place finish in France last year. The 29-year-old has already captured two winner’s medals this season at the UAE Tour and Tirreno–Adriatico. Will he repeat and add a third trophy to his name in 2019?
Tour de Romandie 2019
- Start Date: Wednesday, May 1st
- End Date: Sunday, May 5th
- Start Time: 10:00 AM ET
- Live Stream: fubo Cycling (watch for free)
The opening stage on Tuesday features an all-out 2.4-mile sprint in the city of Neuchâtel. That is followed up with two hilly courses from Neuchâtel to La Chaux-de-Fonds (104.6 mi) and Le Locle to Morges (108.4 mi). Two mountain stages follow on Friday and Saturday. First a 99.4-mile trek through the city of Romont, then a 109.4 mi journey from Lucens to Torgon. Finally, the event wraps up on Sunday with an individual time trial in Genève.
Success in this event doesn’t always translate to the biggest race of them all in July. Last year’s Tour de France winner, Geraint Thomas, finished a mediocre 33rd in Switzerland. All eyes will be on Thomas to see if he’s on track to defend his title this summer.
Thomas and Team Sky will have a new look as the calendar winds down. This race will feature a new branding for the popular stable of riders. Out is “Team Sky” being replaced by “Team Ineos” and a whole new look. Will the change affect any of the top cyclists’ performances?
Others to keep an eye on are Victor Campenaerts of Lotto-Soudal, 19-year-old up-and-coming star Remco Evenepoel and Algarve winner Stefan Küng.
