Watch: Police release video of San Jose homicide suspects
SAN JOSE — Authorities on Tuesday released surveillance video of two suspects wanted in connection with a fatal shooting south of downtown San Jose late last year.
Officers were dispatched to E. Virginia and S. 3rd streets about 1 a.m. on Dec. 5 for a report of a person down, according to San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten. They arrived to find 49-year-old Mark Edward Jones suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Jones, a transient, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tepoorten said an investigation revealed Jones was shot following a brief altercation with two suspects. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.
The suspects are described as white or Latino. One had a medium to heavy build and was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a light-colored jacket, dark-colored pants and dark-colored sneakers with white soles. The other had a medium build and was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a dark-colored jacket and dark-colored pants.
